Whitby 42

A new instrument panel, complete with SSB (and modem), Raymarine radio, and laptop completely integrated with navigation and radar via a high speed bus. The image at the right shows the KVH satellite dome (for a satellite phone and Internet access) on a custom mount and the radar head, also mounted on a custom made mount (this one hydraulically dampened and gimbaled).

Various projects have been completed on this Whitby 42 including....
- A custom designed electrical panel by Richard's Custom Marine
- Sales and Installation of a complete navigational package,
which includes sonar, radar, chartplotter, wind, speed and depth
- Installation of a new autopilot system, 400G course computer
with 6001 control heads
- New engine instrumentation and a teak instrument panel
- Installation of a new Northern Lights 5kw generator set, complete
with sound box. The exhaust is though a double water trap into
a water/exhaust gas separator
- Installation of a Anchor Windlass, mounted on twin plates
of Stainless Plate. Windlass Battery,Controls and Charging System
Installed in a forward locker,
- Installation of a 70 amp Newmar 3 stage battery charger, feeding
the 8 battery house bank, using 3 Echo chargers for engine,
generator and windlass batteries
- Major refit of galley, with removal of an old cold plate system
which was replaced with a new fridge and freezer system, new
counter and teak work. The refit also included a custom made
stainless steel assembly for the microwave/convection oven
- All charging sources charge the one main house bank of eight
12 volt deep cycle batteries. The engine, generator and windlass
batteries are echo-charged from the house bank. This prevents
over charging of the low discharge batteries, while recharging
the house bank after a long voyage
- The main panel is organized into groups; (pumps, lights, DC
distribution, AC distribution) with meters organized for house
bank voltage and amperage, crank and generator battery Voltage,
charging source amperage, and AC Volts, Amps and frequency is
included, so as to verify that the generator is producing 60
cycles.
- All crimps and connections are made with Anchor Marine waterproof
connectors. The main battery cables were cut, crimped and fitted
on-site
- New and old wiring systems are combined and organized using
terminals and bars, and the new wiring from the panel is then
fed to the new terminal bar system
- The 24" Raydome for the radar has beenmounted on the
mizzen mast on a hydraulic dampened gimbal assembly, Connections
at the base have been made into a deck connector fitted with
gold plated pins and sockets
